Ms. Supinya ‘Jay Fai’ Junsuta, Bangkok’s favourite celebrity chef and Michelin-star recipient, has once more proven expertise and authority in the craft with two new accolades.

One of the most charming appeals of Bangkok, Thailand, is hands-down its eclectic culinary scene. Eat Vacation believes that there is no better way to get to know the local culture than by exploring street foods and discovering authentic gastronomic surprises. It should not come as a surprise that Bangkok has produced some of the world’s most inspiring culinary figures.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently announced that Ms. Supinya ‘Jay Fai’ Junsuta has won the ‘Icon Award for Asia’, while her establishment has received the honorary ‘Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021’. These new accolades were voted for by a line-up of experts in Asia, thus validating the street food chef’s expertise even more.

Bangkok’s celebrity street food chef, Ms. Supinya ‘Jay Fai’ Junsuta, was recently named winner of the ‘Icon Award for Asia’ in addition to her eatery receiving ‘Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021’ honours.

Indeed, Eat Vacation had come to know the eminent Ms. Jay Fai when her street food restaurant became one of the first to receive a Michelin-star in 2018. Other than that, she has also been featured on Netflix’s ‘Street Food Asia’, a documentary series which boosted her reputation even more. One could imagine what happens when a regular street food restaurant is brought to the international spotlight, garnering more customers and attention Ms. Jay Fai had even dreamed of.

Along with these brand-new awards, culinary media and global foodies have come to Bangkok to try some of her creations. Eat Vacation find the famous Khai Chiao Pu, or crab omelette, to be one of her most mouth-watering menus. It is cooked like a Japanese-style omelette and consists of almost half a kilogram of succulent crab meat!

Jay Fai
In 2018, Jay Fai was recognised with a star in the first ever Michelin Guide Thailand in the process of becoming the earliest Thai street food restaurant to receive the honour.

Meanwhile, many are queuing up to try her Phat Ki Mao Thale (drunken noodles with seafood) and unique innovation of dry Tom Yam. This is an artful reimagination of Thailand’s national dish, in which the iconic sour, sweet, salty, and spicy mix are infused into an entirely new design. While international travel is still heavily restricted today, Eat Vacation hopes that Ms. Jay Fai’s most recent accomplishments could offer some inspiration for other people. Not to mention that it gives even more reason for tourists to flock into Thailand once the pandemic has concluded.
