Management of the acclaimed Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana will return to its roots as the new Hadiprana Hospitality takes back control from GHM, its longstanding and established operator.

Those accustomed to the five-star hotel scene of Ubud will surely be familiar with Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana. As one of the most venerated resorts in Southeast Asia, it has long been the go-to sanctum for those seeking an idyllic getaway among the lush rice paddies and refreshing greeneries. In 2020, this property will be rebranded as Singapore-based GHM, its longtime operator, will formally hand over management to the the brand-new Hadiprana Hospitality group.

Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana used to be known as The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah Ubud. The new name, as well as the group’s, is based on the late Hendra Hadiprana, a distinguished Indonesian architect behind some of the nation’s most stunning properties, including this one. He had initially designed the resort in 1980s as a family retreat before renouncing the management to GHM in 2004.

Tanah Gajah
Tanah Gajah was built in the 1980s as a holiday home for the legendary designer and transformed into a resort in 2004 when Hadiprana’s imagination conjured the possibility of another estate nearby.

Eat Vacation is delighted to say that his heirs launched Tanah Gajah to honor Hadiprana’s venerated genius and grounding his legacy to the artistic and cultural heritage of Indonesia. Sekaraya Hadiprana Surjaudaja, granddaughter of the architect who has also stepped up as a director in the group, shares that Hadiprana and GHM founder Hans Jenni have since become great friends. “We’ve had a terrific run with GHM,” she said. “Now we embark on a new journey, to elevate our guest experiences to the next level”.

Hans Jenni himself claimed that the Hadipranas had been perfect partners. He said, “They believed in our approach to the hospitality business, in our enthusiasm for Asian-inspired design and local cultures and communities, and we believed in the foundation Hendra established with this estate.”

Tanah Gajah
Tanah Gajah’s local roots will be strengthened with the renaming of key sites on the property to reflect its origin.

Truly, Eat Vacation has witnessed firsthand the fruitful collaboration of Hadiprana and GHM in the very essence of the resort. Offering a sublime experience for guests, Tanah Gajah, a Resort by Hadiprana, is brimming with extraordinary design appeals, unique art collection and captivating dance performances. It is no surprise that this Balinese resort has garnered multiple major awards under its belt. Please visit www.tanahgajahubud.com to find out more.
